Happy Birthday Stina!!!

Dear Kristina,

Happy 29th Birthday! You are my best friend, family, sister, fairy godmother, sanity, partner in crime, crabby patty, root beer float!

You have been and continue to be such a blessing to me and our family. I never thought I would have a friend in my life like you. You are always there for me no matter what time day or night you are always there as my support system, sounding board, someone who understands without judgement and can always make me laugh. Over the years you have become more than my friend you are my sister and I love you!

You and Mikey have always been such a great friend to Ryan and I & I am forever grateful! Who knew when I met you at my baby shower in California you would end uping my most cherished friend in life. I look forward to where our lives take us.

So blessed to know that no matter where our lives take us we will always have each other!

Love you,

Julie

Business Cards

Today I am sick in bed and taking care of my 2 kiddos.. of course when I get sick I want to do everything- do my homework for my real estate license (yes still working on that), read a new book, take care of work emails, blog, pininterest....the list continues

This week if my first business trip and 1st real estate conference. Being a stay at home mom for the past 7 years I have watched Ryan leave many times to go away for work many times. I am looking forward to it and nervous at the same time. I also go tmy very own business cards for the first time ever. I know for most people this is not a major thing but it was very exciting to me :)

Well, back to watching cooking shows and being sick in bed.. hoping my meds kick in soon so I can get back to my to do list!

TGIF

MOH (no wonder people kept asking if we were going to prom we looked like babies, she brought me pics I had never seen before of my wedding almost 7 yrs ago)
Had such a great time with Christine last week. It was her 1st trip to come visit us in Texas! It was just like old times like time had not passed at all. I can not believe we have been friends since we were 14 and we are already 26. Where has the time gone. She really is like family to me and I am so gratedful I got to spend that time with her and talk about old times and she got to spend some good time with my kids. Can not wait to go visit her and he babies one day!!!!

In other news.. this week has taught me that when God wants you to change your direction in life HE will make it happen. It is always for the best and to force us to move and grow most importantly LEARN from the experience. We are so blessed with friends and family that love and support us and we can get through anything that comes I believe. I am so thankful for my husband, kids, family and a job I enjoy with a great group of people that are helping me grow and learn....

Happy TGIF!!!

1st day!

First day of 1st grade in a new school went great! Her response when I picker her up was " It is pretty much like kindergarten you just do things at a different time" She shares a locker & table with her bff Taylor and she is thrilled. So happy for her.

Such a big girl! Very proud of her

Walking my baby to 1st grade (w/Geisha hair and a mumu on of course I apologized to her for my appearance while walking in but at 6am after all summer geesh that was the best I could come up with)

Book Club!!!

Excited for our Sister~Wine Book Club to start! I started our 1st book while the kids swam with Daddy at the pool and pretended we were on vacation in Nantucket (where the story is based out of & Brooke I have decided we will visit one day and stay at a B&B and pretend we are at our summer home)

So far I am already hooked and excited for our in- person wine discussions and when that is not possible (the other sister lives in the "city" Dallas) we will Skype and discuss the pages we have read over the wine of the week. Very exciting stuff!

To Be Continued....

We officially have a 1st grader!!!

Next week is the start of 1st grade!!!! Made me think back to when Mae Mae (not supposed to call her that anymore) started preschool in front of our old house. Ryan & I have had such great times with her. Our life was simple and happy! She has brightened our life and made us who we are today. I remember driving to the airport to go to the Bahamas and crying that I would miss her and Eric saying " well of course she is not just your daughter she is your best friend" that is very true she has been with me since I was a kid myself at 18 and has grown with me and made me a mother and a better person. I am so grateful for this little girl and so proud of my 1st grader!!!!!
First Day of Preschool
My best friend!!!!

Heaven Gained Another Angel on Sunday 08-07-11

My Grandpa Manny Olvera passed this past Sunday. He was 82. Of course when a family member passes it puts life in perspective and makes you realize how short life really is. When you are younger you think well at least he was older but I think in your spirit you are always the same person and never fully ready or prepared to leave this earth.

I was telling Ryan that I am more afraid of death because it is inevitable. I feel the same way about pregnancy. There is no way around it that baby has to come out eventually and that is final. I have been thinking back on the house in Santa Maria we used to visit so often as a child. He was a good father to my mom and was always there for her when she needed him. He would always answer the phone the same way to me "Hi Jules how the weather?" I will miss him and I am sorry I did not make it in time to see him before he got ill. He is an angel in heaven that I know I will see again one day.

RIP Grandpa

Believe in Possibility

I have been listening motivational lessons on YouTube while I work this week to help keep me on track and keep me motivated to stay in my office and keep working and taking real estate tests to get through my courses.

One of the major points they speak about it finding someone else who has been successful and follow what they did and make it your ritual. I have been around sales (20/20) for over 5 years and have heard it all but until it applies to you it is much harder to absorb. So, I have found my passion, lost my excuses and now have to MAKE IT HAPPEN. Set daily, weekly, yearly goals and how to can achieve them. Every little success will eventually lead me to where I would like to be.

I had many things holding me back in my own head that made me believe I could not be successful in a career

-Having kids too young
-No college degree
-No babysitter
 ETC, ETC, ETC

Somehow it has all come together that those things that were holding me back were not an obstacle anymore and I can still be successful if I am willing to do the work.

I am so blessed to have many mentors to copy and get knowledge from. Many are in my own family. I have great people in real estate to help me along this journey. My biggest competitor is myself.

Motivation is like showering...It must be done daily

Dear Mr. Henshaw

I was going through some boxes of books to have Madeline start reading since she is doing the Summer Reading program at the library and I came across my copy of Dear Mr. Henshaw. It was one of my favorite books growing up. I read it many times during my parents divorce and I used to relate a lot to the boy in the story.

When I met Ryan when I was 18 I was managing a skate shop and a cute long haired boy started to work with me. We were discussing books I really can't recall how it came up but he went down to the bookstore and bought me this book. He barely knew me at that time and we had just met and I realize now almost 8 years later that was the one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. We are not big on anniversary's or gifts etc but that means more to me now than it did when I was 18 and I have the best husband. We may not always get along or agree but he has the best heart and he is truly my soul mate.
